On Monday 30 August 2010 the Welkom Regional Court in the Free Sate Province sentenced a 23-year-old man to 12 years for the gruesome murder of his former grilfriend. The woman's body was recovered by the Allanridge police when they received an anonymous call from a member of the community. The victim was found tied and hidden under the bed in a house in Nyakallong near Allanridge.

Five people including a child died in a horrific accident in Odendaalsrus, Welkom in the Free State when a truck and a grey Toyota Tazz collided at about 19:30 on 3 September 2010. According to the information received by the police the truck was travelling from Welkom towards Kroonstad while a Toyota Tazz was travelling from Kroonstad towards Kutloanong.

The mammoth task of the payment of remuneration to all members of the South African Police Service who were called up to perform duties during the 2010 FIFA World Cup is now nearing completion. The SAPS started running payments to our members in batches approximately two weeks ago and anticipate that the last run will be finalised by the end of next week, that is by 10 September 2010.
