Following the brutal attack on Mr Richard Lemmer (74) on the farm Rietkuil, situated in the Klerksdorp district, by five men on 27 November 2005, information was followed up which led to the arrest of the suspects on 10 January 2006. On 21 August 2008, two of the men were found not guilty by the Klerksdorp Court. Two of their accomplices, Johannes Moopeloa (50) and Lucky Williams (37), were each sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment, while David Papie Gaje (25) was sentenced to six years’ imprisonment. All three were declared unfit to possess a firearm.
