The police in Thabazimbi arrested a 19-year-old suspect in connection with the rape of a 13-year-old girl. It is alleged that the girl was raped in March 2008 in Regorogile in Thabazimbi. The victim kept her ordeal secret until it was discovered that she was pregnant. She gave birth to a baby boy on 25 Dec 2008. The victim then revealed that she was raped by the 19-year-old suspect. The suspect was immediately arrested for statutory rape. He is expected to appear in the local Magistrates' Court on Monday, 29 Dec 2008. Police investigations are continuing.
