Brilliant investigation by police officers led to the arrest of two suspects for Hijacking in Woodstock. On Monday, 27 July 2009 at about 15:00, we arrested a 22-year-old suspect in Station Road, Mowbray for a hijacking that he had allegedly been committed in Collingwood Road, Observatory on Sunday morning, 26 July 2009 at about 04:15. The arrest follows after the police on routine patrol noticed a white Nissan Micra in Station Road, Mowbray. We tested the registration number of the vehicle which confirmed that the vehicle had been reported stolen during a hijacking in Observatory. The vehicle was stopped near the Mowbray railway station, and the police arrested one suspect. It is alleged that two suspects threatened the complainant at knife point, and pulled her out of her vehicle in Observatory. The suspects then drove off with the complainant's vehicle, leaving her unharmed. During further investigation, the detective, Sergeant Warren Smith, interrogated the arrested suspect and the identity of the other suspect was revealed. The investigation officer followed up on information, and the second suspect, a 26-year-old male, was arrested. Both suspects will appear in the Cape Town Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, 29 July 2009 on charges of armed robbery and theft of motor vehicle. The detective will appose the bail of the suspects in order to linked them to similar incidents.
